European-Inspired Elegance in the Macedon Ranges
Over 13 years and 800+ weddings later, styled shoots remain one of my favourite parts of this work. Whether I’m hosting editorial workshops or collaborating with other industry creatives, these projects allow us to hone our creative vision by exploring emerging trends and reimagining wedding design.

This styled shoot brought us to Alora Macedon, one of Australia’s newest private estate wedding venues in Victoria.
Welcome to Alora Macedon
Tucked away just 45 minutes from Melbourne in the Macedon Ranges, Alora Macedon seamlessly blends sweeping Australian landscape with Tuscan-inspired architecture and modern minimalist aesthetics.

From the moment you arrive at the driveway lined by towering pencil pine trees, the venue sets a tone of understated luxury.
Venue highlights:
- Capacity & versatility – Suited to both intimate weddings and grand celebrations, accommodating 50-500 guests.
- Ceremony options – Multiple ceremony locations across the estate, including directly in front of the atrium for a dramatic architectural backdrop.
- Glass atrium – An iconic 600sqm reception space with floor-to-ceiling glass walls and polished concrete floors. Completely weatherproof yet light-filled and airy.
- On-site accommodation – Two separate Tuscan-style residences with 11 rooms total and a private pool.
- Commercial kitchen – Bring in your preferred caterer, perfect for creating a fully bespoke menu.
Alora Macedon is your match if you’re working with a tighter timeline or want to turn your wedding into an immersive weekend retreat. Renting out the entire estate, your entire wedding party can get ready onsite, celebrate, and stay the night — eliminating travel logistics while enjoying a wide range of photography opportunities across the grounds.

The Vision & Style Concept
Planned by Mellyrain Creative and styled by Atelier Creative, the overall concept was inspired by European garden romance, featuring a colour palette of cream, ivory, white truffle, stone, and rich foliage tones that felt organic to the Macedon Ranges landscape.

Cascading floral installations brought effortless drama, while personalised embroidered linens added bespoke intimacy. On-trend lace and draped fabric over cocktail tables created a beautiful textural contrast against the pebbled outdoor setting.
The styling was intentionally restrained, elevating current trends without being excessive, complementing Alora Macedon’s refined appeal.

The Ceremony
Set against Alora Macedon’s glass atrium, the ceremony highlighted the venue’s architectural beauty. Replacing the traditional wedding arch, a suspended banner installation created an elegant focal point, adding softness and height to the backdrop.

Cocktail Hour
Post-ceremony celebrations called for cocktails and bubbles in the stone courtyard, where draped tables and bar stools invited guests to mingle and relax. The surrounding trees and greenery framed the setting, enhancing the private, garden-party atmosphere.

Around the Grounds
For portraits, we explored the estate to capture the range of settings available beyond the ceremony and reception spaces. The driveway entrance offered dramatic symmetry, while the stone courtyard’s outer corners provided intimate, sunlit moments.

The poolside area by the private residences definitely stole my heart — Tuscan arches, warm stonework, and golden hour light created images that could easily have been shot at a villa in Italy.

It’s this architectural diversity that makes Alora Macedon so valuable for editorial wedding photography: you can move through distinctly different settings for each part of the day, resulting in a gallery that feels like a European destination weekend rather than a standard event venue.
Editorial Wedding Photography for Discerning Couples
Based in the Yarra Valley, I’ve spent over 13 years photographing weddings across Australia, the US, Europe, and Asia. Alora Macedon stands out because it delivers the sought-after destination aesthetic without leaving the country.
That said, no matter how stunning the venue or how on-trend the styling, the most important factor is planning a wedding that feels authentically yours. Trends fade, but images that capture who you truly are? Those last.
I take on a very limited number of weddings annually to ensure every couple receives a collaborative, intentional experience. From our first conversation, we’ll work closely to understand your vision and create space for you to stay fully present on your day. This isn’t just photography coverage — it’s a creative partnership built on trust and shared creativity.
